But there are even more people willing and able to come to the aid of their neighbors! That is why we created Neighbors Helping Neighbors. With the help of the United Way, we will match up people with problems to people who have the resources and willing spirit to help a "neighbor" in need. |  | | Do you or your family need help? Do you want to help someone else who may be in need? If so, please fill out our official application with program guidelines. It only takes a few minutes of your time, but it can be the key to getting the help that you need, or the way to get in touch with a family that you can help. |  |  |  | Q: How do you choose a recipient of the Neighbors Helping Neighbors program?
A: Each month, abc27 and United Way will match people in need with resources donated by good neighbors based on the application information available.
Q: Can I volunteer my services to help?
A: Definitely. Volunteers can contact United Way to volunteer services and materials to assist a ‘neighbor’ in need. For insurance reasons, volunteers must be licensed professionals.
Q: Can I nominate myself?
A: Yes. You can nominate a friend, relative or yourself for consideration in this program.
Q: I don't have a printer. Is there anywhere else I can get an application?
A: Yes. Applications and guidelines are available at United Way of the Capital Region and the abc27 studios.
Q: How often will help be awarded to my neighbors?
A: Neighbors Helping Neighbors is a monthly program
Q: What are the primary areas of consideration when the evaluation committee reviews applications for possible inclusion in the Neighbors Helping Neighbors progr
A: The committee considers 1) the focused need of the applicant (a single key project that needs to be completed), 2) the family’s story of interest, 3) the unique need of the applicant, rather than the want.
Q: Will I receive a response to my application if I am not chosen as a recipient?
A: Unfortunately, due to the volume of applications received, we are not able to respond to applicants if they are eliminated from consideration.
Q: Will the winners be on television like the Makeover Contest?
A: The recipients in the Neighbors Helping Neighbors program may appear on abc27 TV at the discretion of the Station. | |
